This October is a powerful astrological season of personal growth and transformation and relational, creative, and financial movement. We start the month with Mercury coming out of retrograde on October 2, opening space in communication and relationships. Up until October 23, Saturn is square with Uranus, which puts tension in leisure and work and pressure on unsupportive relationships, asking us to seek compromise. Despite this awkward square, the first few weeks of October see the planets moving through air signs—Mars in Gemini, the Sun and Venus in Libra, and Saturn in Aquarius—making it a beautiful time to explore relational pleasures, creativity, and bright and adventurous experiences.
As Pluto turns direct on October 8th, we experience a powerful return that has been in the works since 2008. This return will create transformation and move us forward in achieving our dreams as we integrate years of devotional labor and skill-building to rebirth and support the realization of our ultimate desires.
The Aries Full Moon on the 9th is a powerful time to set intentions in relationships regarding emotional needs. Approach this Full Moon with clear communication and honest and tender emotional vulnerability. We hit a slight bump in the road when Mars squares Neptune from October 11-12, bringing low energy, suspicion, deceit, lies, and scandal. This square asks us to be courageous when facing deceitful patterns and overcome them by avoiding gossip, drama, deception, and manipulation and maintaining integrity in our intent and word.
Middle October is an excellent time for connective experimentation and communion with friends, lovers, and nature. It is also a beautiful time to explore social creativity. Hang out with friends while crafting or creating. You can also visit an art gallery or go to a colorful festival, decorate for the season, and explore the creative celebrations present. Weaves the Web invites us to explore creatively throughout the entire October Moon that ends October 25 with the New Moon in Scorpio and the Solar Eclipse.
Venus Cazimi occurs October 22 when Venus enters "the heart of the Sun," forming a 5-pointed star point at 29 degrees Libra. This is a sensitive spot leading up to the New Moon/Eclipse. Although the Cazimi is considered highly auspicious with the power to mystically move us intimately, it's crucial to avoid spontaneity with this energy. Don't rush any significant decisions regarding relationship containers and commitment. October 23 follows up with Saturn leaving retrograde, preparing us to get serious about our purpose and place in society; how we take up space and contribute to our communities.
The Scorpio Solar Eclipse and New Moon are good times to slow down, go within, and focus inwardly on releasing toxic patterns in relationship dynamics and finances. As retrograde Jupiter moves through Pisces October 28, we go through a collective cleansing and dying cycle, releasing old identities, and preparing for a rebirth in December.
At the New Moon, the guard changes from Libra to Scorpio and from the Clan Mother Weaves the Web to Walks Tall Woman. This guides us from creative inspiration and spontaneity to more focused growth, excellence, and leadership.
This Scorpio partial Solar Eclipse calls into question relationship dynamics, power structures governing relationships, and finances, urging us not to rush in despite the heightened arousal. Right before Samhain and just as the Autumnal energies dip into the beginning of the dying time, Mars goes retrograde on October 30, creating tension and stagnation in travel. October 31 ends the month with Samhain and the thinning of the veil that goes to the evening of November 1. Festivities abound as the astrological energies move through flux and climax.
